Wintek Construction had to remove the existing material before reroofing. Once the old roof tiles were unveiled, they found that there was an extreme case of wood rot. They had to completely remove all the wood rot, specifically replacing the beams that had rotted with new timber beams. Once the new beams were in place, they fastened it to make sure it was installed well with new lath and felting. Wintek made sure that the roof had a breathable roofing membrane to prevent condensation, which had led the old roof to wood rot. They added new graded batons (i.e. what the tiles are fixed to), and made sure there was a fixing on every single tile to adhere to modern standards. They also made sure there was an extensive headlap (i.e. the overlap between each tile) to prevent the wind and rain from driving under the tiles into the roof.
